![]() ![]() They might not want to repeat that with relink. And already people were complaining about the low amount of characters on launch. The other game, GBVS, is a fighting game crafted very deliberately by ArcSys and as a result it's impossible to add new skins due to the techniques used, or add new characters quickly. I was wondering why they would want to mess up the beautiful system Platinum Games had in place, this could be the answer. I fear you have a point here about the "more characters" part especially, this really lends more weight to the possibility that they deliberately simplified the combat system for individual characters so that it would be much simpler to add more of the gacha fan favourites down the line. One thing I keep reiterating is PG's role was always letting them use their engine, all the assets, from the very first look in 2017 to now was always done in house at Cygames. PG did their jobs, no more reason to keep paying them for the technical support if they dropped their engine. This is important considering one of the main selling points of the game is drop in coop. PG-CG relationship can be summed up as "only designing the gameplay, letting them use NAM engine and teaching them how to use it." Well they got rid of NAM engine for reasons unknown to the public, one reason speculated to be because PG and CG couldn't get networking capabilities on it working on it properly or in a satisfying manner. Disagreements on the gameplay and mechanics They wanted a lot more work done on the game while Platinum wanted to move on to their many other projects. I wonder why Platinum left, 2 plausible lines of reasoning i've seen are that: 1. A good character action type combat system is really hard to get right and takes a lot of experience, expertise, and proper engine which I think only Capcom and Platinum really have at the highest level right now. Really hope it's not completely number 2, there's a lot of mentions about "developing framework/refining engine/restructuring", we might be seeing the consequences here. ![]() They wanted a lot more work done on the game while Platinum wanted to move on to their many other projects.Ģ. There are some moments with Djeeta's uppercut like in 6:24:33 and 6:27:39 of the video linked by Gematsu that look like it should have launched the enemy and allowed you to cancel into an aerial combo, but didn't. There's still dodging and such but movement and actions feel less deliberate. I still like what I see now but it certainly does look more MMO dynasty warriors vs DMC. Man you're right, it's been so long that i've forgotten about the footage they've been releasing over the years.
